Victorians for the Day!
The day started with the boys and girls standing in lines separately before being allowed into the classroom. Miss Stephens, brandishing her cane, beckoned the children inside to start the days’ lessons. The children were allocated with Victorian names and given the rules for the Victorian school. All those who misbehaved would endure the cane. Those who failed to produce good work would become the class dunce and those who wrote with their left hand were only permitted to use their right! Handwriting, maths, times tables and singing were all part of the day along with exercises and dirty hand checks. The day was rounded off nicely with some William Morris art work . The day was enjoyable for staff and children alike but I believe we are all happier in the 21st century.
